Biographical

Mr. Duzyk is an arbitrator, mediator, attorney and neutral with the majority of his practice being devoted to resolution of disputes in the construction industry and design profession.  Licensed to practice in Virginia and Kentucky, Mr. Duzyk has over 30 years of experience including field roles as a project manager in structural steel and work in large scale heavy highway construction, asphalt production and site work as a laborer/equipment operator, estimator and operations manager. Previously served as Adjunct Faculty Member in the University of Kentucky-College of Engineering’s Construction Engineering Management Graduate Program and as the General Counsel/Director of Risk Management of a large transportation/bridge contractor with diversified interests in commercial building construction and construction materials production while also managing one of the company’s operating divisions and serving in overall company management.

He has been a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Construction (Large Complex Panel) and Commercial Panels since 2010 and has served as both panel chair and as a sole arbitrator on numerous matters involving projects in multiple states. As an active mediator since 2003, he has handled both arbitrations and mediations involving disputes over delay, disruption and scheduling impacts; default, construction defects and project-related performance issues; and professional malpractice claims on projects in various industries including automotive, agricultural production and other specialty processing facilities, university athletic and academic facilities, high rise residential and office buildings, churches, courthouses, schools, parking structures, bridges, roadways, utility/power facilities and other infrastructure projects.
